Zoya Fall 2013 PixieDust - Swatches and Review

Wednesday, July 17, 2013

Hi guys! Today I have the NEW Zoya Fall 2013 PixieDust collection! These colors are absolutely amazing and I fell in love with them even more after I got them in my possession!

I have quick thoughts and application reviews on each of them plus a removal statement at the end. I hope you enjoy these swatches as much as I enjoyed reviewing these polishes!

Zoya Fall 2013 PixieDust

Tomoko: Glowing Champagne Silver
This is such a beautiful and delicate color. It applies in 2 even coats for me and the sparkle of this just comes off like Christmas tinsel. Zoya calls this one a "foil twinkle" and I think they have it quite right.

Chita: Emerald Forest Green
So, I know this is a FALL collection, but this polish reminds me of a Christmas tree. It is the perfect dark green for any holiday-themed nail art. The possibilities are endless with this. Chita applied flawlessly in 1, yes ONE, coat.

Sunshine: Van Gogh Navy Blue
Sunshine is another one-coater and it is the most BEAUTIFUL navy blue! If this is what Zoya's FALL collection looks like, I can't even imagine how great their WINTER collection is going to be...that is, if they have a winter pixie collex! The silver in this shines through but it's subtle enough that it doesn't take away from the main blue color.

Dhara: Dazzling Coppery Orange
Dhara is a zesty orange that's juicy enough to eat! Zoya calls this one a "foil twinkle" too. It's pretty sheer but I made it work in just 2 even coats. This is the perfect Halloween orange and great for the Fall season. Combine this with Solange and Chyna and you've got perfect Fall leaves.

Arabella: Rich Fuchsia Pink
Arabella reminds me of dessert at Thanksgiving. It is a sexy fuchsia that anyone can pull off. Shown below is 2 even coats. Under bright lights, it sparkles continuously. In regular lighting and indoors, it still has some sparkle, but it's subdued and very delicate.

Carter: Regal Purple
I think I was most excited for this one. This deep, rich purple just screams gorgeous! Now, I took 2 photos of this one because just describing it as "sheer" wasn't enough. The first picture is of my first coat. As you can see, it appears very sheer and seems unlikely that it would build up to what you see in the bottle.

Clearly it absolutely is buildable with the 2nd coat. I do like how you can actually see the individual micro glitters in the first coat. The 2nd coat was just as thin as the first so don't worry about having too much polish on your nails.

Overall, well, I am so in love with these. I am so happy with the colors Zoya came up with in this collection and I'll be sporting them all season long.

Removal for the most part was just like any glitter, but because the particles are so tiny, you might end up with some sparkly fingers. I went over each nail once with pure acetone and then took another cotton ball with regular polish remover to go over any leftover glitter.

I had to use my scrubby nail brush to wash up after each swatch, but it's to be expected with so much glitter.

  2. So pretty! Thanks for the removal tips too...I hate wearing and removing textured and glitter polishes because they get everywhere.
