Voloom Hair Volumizing Iron

Hey all! Tonight I have a new type of hair tool to show you. It's the Voloom Hair Volumizing Iron. My hair is so fine and flat that I always love to try new things to get some volume pumped into my hair. I figure this could be an easy way to do it.

It comes in a box like this. I love the packaging - it's so feminine but also super simple.

If you're not one to keep boxes to hair tools (like me) the kit comes with a carrying case. Along with the iron and the case, there is a brush/hair separator and 3 clips to help you pin back the layers of hair.

Voloom Hair Volumizing Iron | Kat Stays Polished

Here is my sad, flat-haired before picture.

Voloom Hair Volumizing Iron - Before with flat Hair | Kat Stays Polished

I started by pinning the top layer of hair away to one side. This iron is meant to volumize the under layers of hair to give you that extra bump.

Voloom Hair Volumizing Iron - Hair All Clipped! | Kat Stays Polished

According to the instructions inside, people with fine, flat, or damaged hair should set their iron between 320 and 350. I chose 330. This thing heated up QUICK! Like...less than a minute! That is one perk I absolutely love about this tool. I hate having to wait for things to heat up!

Voloom Hair Volumizing Iron - Temp Set for Fine Hair | Kat Stays Polished

The iron looks like a crimper. This is the first section of hair that I did. According to the instructions, they say to do more more than halfway down your cheek. I did about 3 iron-sections down.

Voloom Hair Volumizing Iron - First Section Voloom'd | Kat Stays Polished

After a few more sections and layers of hair, can you tell which side has been volumized?

Voloom Hair Volumizing Iron - One Side Voloom'd | Kat Stays Polished

Here is both sides done. You can most definitely tell the difference. The crimp marks DO fade out after brushing and cooling down. Honestly though, some days I think I might actually want some wavy and crimped hair. Remember those days?

Voloom Hair Volumizing Iron - Both Sides Voloom'd | Kat Stays Polished

Overall, this product has really amazed me. From the time it took me to heat up the iron to actually having my entire head done...it was less than 10 minutes total. I have NEVER been able to do a look like this in that short amount of time. Normally, anything having to do with a hot hair tool takes about 15 minutes for just one side. What do y'all think?

Easy Accent Nails with Decals from You Polish

Hello friends! So, I don't know about you, but nail decals and stickers make it easy to do nail art. If you haven't already heard, You Polish has some pretty neat ones that you can get in any color you want. Today I will be showing you what I did with some bow, mermaid, and bird decals. All are super easy and quick to do!

You Polish Nail Decals | Kat Stays Polished

Who knows what one of my favorite colors is? If you guessed mint then you've been paying attention! As soon as I saw these I knew exactly which polishes I wanted to use to show off this decal. I used the Greenwich St. Soiree duo from etoile. I love how the plain bow looks on top of the shimmery shades. So simple but so pretty at the same time!

Next are the mermaid decals. Of COURSE I was like...let me go get my Ariel from Sealore. I needed another purple shade so I grabbed my Seche Clever &Confident. I think it's a pretty good match-up, don't you?

Teadora Nourishing Lip Butter - Rainforest at Dawn

Throughout this pregnancy, I have experienced overly dry lips - much more than normal. When I got the chance to review a lip butter that also acted as an exfoliant, I jumped at the chance! Behold, the Teadora Nourishing Lip Butter - Rainforest at Dawn.

Teadora Nourishing Lip Butter - Rainforest at Dawn | Kat Stays Polished

Here is a little bit about the product straight from their website:
Packed with antioxidant and vitamin-rich Buriti, Brazil Nut, Andoriba, Maracujá (Passion Fruit), Açaí oils, Cupuaçu, Murumuru, Mango butters plus Carnaúba Wax, our Rainforest at Dawn Lip Butter comes in a delicious citrusy flavor we call Laranja - which means orange in Portuguese - and provides light exfoliation and intense hydration for your lips.

Teadora Nourishing Lip Butter - Rainforest at Dawn | Kat Stays Polished

The first thing I love about this product is how much you actually get. I feel like this pot would last me a really long time, which is something I do look for in a lip product. I'm always carrying one around and the less I have to replenish, the better.

The second thing I love about it this how fragrant it is. So deliciously citrusy! If you're not into citrus, then this definitely isn't the product for you. Luckily, I am obsessed with citrusy and fruity bath and body products - this was perfect for me!

Lastly, if you dig into the pot a little, this acts as a pre-moisturizing gentle exfoliant for you lips. Yes, we all have to exfoliate those little lip flakies sometimes. Double-duty product = a-ok in my book!

Teadora Nourishing Lip Butter - Rainforest at Dawn | Kat Stays Polished

In addition to this flavor, they also have one called:
Rainforest at Dusk Lip Butter ($15) - delicious berry-chocolate flavor we call Açaí-Açu and provides light-exfoliation and intense hydration for your lips.

So what do you think? Is this a product for you? Let me know in the comments below!

Hey all! Today I have a hair and body oil to show you. I'm always looking for new hair oils to try and this one is luxurious! It's called the Monat Rejuveniqe Oil Intensive. Here is a little background info on it from the company.

Nourish and energize the scalp with an invigorating blend of 11+ unique molecular ingredients –including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, beta-carotene and omega-3 fatty acids – that mimic the body’s natural oils! The proprietary formula reduces hair thinning, prevents oxidative stress and adds incredible volume, repairing the hair with instantly visible, long-lasting shine without the damaging effects of silicone.

Monat Rejuveniqe Oil Intensive | Kat Stays Polished

Abyssinian: The Key ingredient in Rejuveniqe Oil Intensive. From the crambe abyssinica plant native to central Africa, it’s a rare and unique combination of fatty acids prized for their ability to do everything from mimic the effects of silicon for unbeatable shine; lubricate the hair deep into the follicle; and protect and coat each strand.

Buriti: The fruit of Africa’s Moriche palm – known as the Tree of Life – is one of the world’s richest sources of beta-carotene, which moisturizes and nourishes.

Camelia: Also known as tea-seed oil, it’s ultra-hydrating oil responsibly harvested from China that cleans the scalp and pampered dry stands thanks to its abundance of Vitamin E and polyphenols.

Carrot Seed: Specially sourced from the mountains of Switzerland, it’s rich in Vitamin A to condition the scalp, plus Alpha Linolenic Acid for anti-inflammatory protection.

Monoi: Selectively sourced from the warm tropics of Tahiti, it’s a restorative oil rich in Omega 3 and fatty acids to heal damage and promote growth from the root.

Meadowfoam: This oil is sourced right from the Pacific Northwest of the USA. Named for its flowers’ resemblance to white foam on the ocean, meadowfoam oil is another outstanding source of Omega 9 fatty acids for shine and sheen.

Moringa: Ancient Egyptians prized Moringa Oil for its nourishing properties, thanks to antioxidants and Vitamin E, which help combat skin fatigue, plus clean and purify the scalp.

Monat Rejuveniqe Oil Intensive | Kat Stays Polished

The way I used it was to apply it to my hair pre-shampoo. i used a good amount and clipped it up to keep it out of my face. Then, i proceeded with my normal shampoo and conditioner routine. My hair did become a lot softer and smoother with regular use. I'd only do this 2-3 times a week.

I have not tried it on my skin. I'm a little cautious when it comes to oils on my skin but if I do try it out, I'll post an update about it. I really like having a pre-shampoo oil hair treatment to use. It makes me feel better about having less greasy hair afterwards.

How do you treat your hair? Since mine is so fine and straight, I love products that help smooth it out. If you're interested in this product, visit their website HERE for more info and to order!

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

Who loves a good skin care post? I know I do because my skin is normally very predictable but ever since I got pregnant, it's been a constant battle between super dry and super oily. When my skin would get dry and flaky, I'd use a mild exfoliator scrub and then moisturize my face making sure to hit any particular dry areas.

Today I have a new exfoliator product to share with you. This is the Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. It's a dry, rice-based powder that, when activated with water, releases Papain, Salicylic Acid and Rice Enzymes that micro-exfoliate dead cells. I love exfoliator scrubs that are gently enough to use daily or at least 4 or 5 days of the week.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant | Kat Stays Polished

I've been using this at nighttime only. As soon as I use it, my skin feels amazing. My face isn't too dried out and it immediately feels smoother. The instructions say that after normal cleansing, dispense about 1/2 teaspoon of powder into your very wet hands and rub your hands together to make a lathery paste. From there, work it into your skin avoiding the eye area.

It does have a very rice-y smell, of course, and I don't mind it one bit. It rinses of cleanly with warm water and leaves no residue at all.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant | Kat Stays Polished

This Daily Microfoliant comes in a 2.6 oz container and retails for $52. Do you use daily exfoliators on your face? If so, which ones? Let me know in the comments what your face scrub is!

FingerPaints Winter Wishes 2014 - Swatches and Review

Good morning! Are you all ready for some glittery goodness? I definitely have a few faves from the new FingerPaints Winter Wishes collection. This collection consists of 5 glittery polishes that are sure to get you in the holiday mood!

FingerPaints Winter Wishes | Kat Stays Polished

Sugar & Spice is a sugary red micro glitter polish. Because these polishes are basically micro glitters in a clear base, i did have to use 3 coats for all the polishes but these were super thin coats. The density of the glitters is perfect for me and I couldn't ask for anything more. When I was growing up, my parents had ornaments that has massive amounts of glitter on them - kinda like this polish.

Ho Ho Happy Holidays is my FAVORITE in this collection. It's a mixture of blue and silver glitters. For anyone who is still in the Frozen craze, this polish is perfect for you! I'm such a sucker for blue and silver together that I about died when I applied this. You'll definitely want to use 1-2 layers of top coat for these polishes if you want a smooth surface.

Glisten Here is a mixture of different colored glitters. As crazy as it sounds, it reminds me of fruit cake. Does anyone else like fruit cake? I haven't had it in so long but I never hated it. If it was around, I'd eat it.

Silver Bells is...well, a silver glitter polish, of course! I really love how sparkly all of these are, especially the silver one. I've known some silvers to be a little muted and not pack as much of a silvery punch as others but this one is just fabulous! Would you agree?

Wrapped in Ribbon is a gold glitter polish and has the same amount of oomph as Silver Bells. These two combined in the same mani would definitely give you a blinged out mani look. I may actually do that once holiday party time comes around.

Are you into glitter-only polishes? These were very easy to remove so I didn't mind them at all. I also didn't have bits of glitter lingering around my cuticles either, which I know can be a problem sometimes.

You can find these at Sally Beauty stores and online for $5.29.
