Quick & Easy Halloween Nail Art with Sally Hansen

Good morning everyone and Happy Halloween! Still not sure what you're going to do? Do you have a party tonight and need a quick nail art mani? Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes and Salon Effects Nail Strips are an easy way to decorate your nails in a flash!

The first look I have is a quick and easy drag marble design. I first painted all my nails with 2 coats of Pumpkin Queen except for my ring finger which I kept at one coat. Since this is an Insta-Dri mani, dry time is super quick!

For the drag marble, I swiped Pumpkin Queen and Night Fright next to each other on a plastic baggy. Then I took a small dotting tool and swirled the colors together. I let that dry and as soon as it was, I carefuly lifted it off the palstic and placed it on my nail. I cleaned up the excess and topped off each nail with some top coat! Boom, first design is done!

The second nail look uses the Salon Effects from Sally Hansen. I also decided to do this over Pumpkin Queen and use one of these lace stickers for an accent nail.

These stickers have a clear base but real lace on top so you get a more realistic look to your mani.

Again, I painted 2 coats of Pumpkin Queen on all of my nails except the ring finger, which has just one coat. Once the ring finger has dried completely, I took one of the strips in the size closest to my nail and carefully placed it against my cuticle. Make sure to be careful with the placement because these are VERY sticky and it will be difficult to readjust it.

After trimming away any excess, add 2 layers of top coat. The first layer will get absorbed by the lace on the sticker but the 2nd will leave it looking smooth.

Easy right? These took me less than 10 minutes to do. Definitely not TOO Halloween-y if you're not into that sorta thing. The Insta-Dri polishes go for $4.99 and the Salon Effects are $9.99 a pack.

Affordable Makeup for Halloween: NYC New York Color

For Halloween this year, as I said in an earlier post, I'm not dressing up. Instead, I'll just do a little something on my nails and add a little makeup to my face that's Halloween-appropriate. Doing makeup definitely doesn't have to be an expensive thing. For the products shown below, here is a small price breakdown:

Lipsticks: $1.99 | Eyeliner: $2.99 | Shadow Palette: $4.99
Mascara: $4.99 | Lashes: $2.99

NYC New York Color: Midnight Beauty | Kat Stays Polished

The first thing I have for you are the special Expert Last Lip Color lipsticks. Sometimes I am very skeptical of dark colored lipsticks because they color payoff isn't always there. Well, you be the judge with the swatches below. The only one that might take a few layers is the Dark Rebirth black color. The other two are perfect for any vampy look or Fall in general. It goes on so smooth and takes a little bit of effort to remove once it's been on for a while. At $1.99, you can't beat it if you need something quick for Halloween.

For an eye look during Halloween, it's good to have something to line those eyes...especially if you're going for a dark look. If you have a steady hand, this liner is easy-peasy. It is in a brush form which can be a little difficult sometimes but practice on your hand or arm first. This liner glides on smooth so if you need to go back and make adjustments, you can do so and it won't mess up what you've already done.

How about a shadow palette that's got everything you need for the eyes including a primer? Yup, this eye shadow palette is called Vampiress. Everything you need to create a dark, smokey look for Halloween is right here in this nice compact. The pigmentation is pretty great too and for just $4.99, it feels like a complete steal!

Sally Hansen Polish for Halloween

Hello!! Yes, more polish for Halloween! Today I've got 2 Insta-Dri shades and 2 Fuzzy Coat shades from Sally Hansen. Along with the typical black and orange colors, there is a bit of green mixed in too.

Sally Hansen Halloween 2014 | Kat Stays Polished

Pumpkin Queen is bright pumpkin orange. I applied 2 thin coats for full opacity. I love the Insta-Dri line of polish. It really does dry so quickly, especially if you're applying thinner layers of polish. This definitely gets me in the pumpkin mood.

Night Fright is a basic black polish. Of course, you have black and orange for your typical Halloween colors. Again, 2 thin coats to get the coverage I wanted and it dried very quickly.

On top of Pumpkin Queen, I have 1 coat of the Fuzzy Coat polish in the shade Fur-ankenstein. Cute name, right? This one has tony black and green bar glitter that really pop against the orange background shade.

This one is the Fuzzy Coat in Witch-ful Thinking over Night Fright. Even though there are black and orange bar glitters in this one, I still decided it would look okay on top of the black polish. Would you try this over a green polish? I might consider that for a future mani.

Thoughts? Were you into the Fuzzy Coat polishes when they first came out? I think these shades for Halloween are super cute and the names are just darling. You can get the Insta-Dri shades for $4.99 and the Fuzzy Coat shades for $5.99 wherever Sally Hansen products are sold.

NYC New York Color: Midnight Beauty - Halloween Nail Shades

Good morning! Today's post (and most of the rest of the week) I will be talking about some Halloween-y items. Last year I dressed up for Halloween for work and it was so much fun. This year, I'm pregnant and I'm not quite in the mood for dressing up. Having shades of polish for Halloween is a great alternative. Today I've got 4 polishes from NYC New York Color. These are part of the Midnight Beauty makeup collection for this season. Let's jump in!

NYC New York Color - Midnight Beauty Collection | Kat Stays Polished

The first polish up is Black Elixir. Of course you have to have a black polish for Halloween. It's This is a quick-dry polish and very opaque. I do still like to use 2 thin layers to apply my polish. I feel like I get better and more even coverage.

Next to black, you've got to have orange in your Halloween polish stash. This one is called Animal Instinct and it's got a hint of shimmer in it. I love how it's not a POW-in-your-face kind of orange. Again, 2 thin coats and I had great coverage.

Next is Animal Instinct but with the Rock Muse Smoky top coat over it. I used 2 coats because 1 was just too thin. I purposefully made some spots darker than others to show how much this top coat transforms the color underneath. I think it's quite interesting and I'm sure you could create a lot of different looks using this top coat. I also love how there is glitter all throughout. It adds so much more pop to the manicure.

The next shade is called I Am Not AffRED. It's a vampy, blood-red color and just screams Halloween! The formula is great and I applied 2 thin coats for the swatch below.

Rock Muse over I Am Not AffRED. Just WOW. The top coat turns this already dark shade ever darker. You can still see some of the red coming through. I absolutely LOVE this and I think I may have found a new favorite nail polish combo.

Glossybox October 2014

Ready for another post today? We are getting close to the end of October...which is so crazy to think about! My husband's birthday, my birthday, and my 2nd blogging anniversary is coming up soon. With those important things in mind, I'm happy to show you what I got in my October Glossybox. These items are perfect for the upcoming November events!

As always, everything was packaged so nicely. I've kept all of my Glossybox boxes because they are SO sturdy and I can use them to organize anything I need to in my beauty room!

Glossybox October 2014 | Kat Stays Polished

Vince Camuto Amore Eau de Parfum
Full Size 3.4 oz | $78

Okay, this fragrance is absolutely my style! The October Glossybox contained a sample size of this perfume but it will last a good while...well, maybe not if I use it every day. It's got a very sweet floral scent...almost fruity, but not quite. It's refreshing and I think it's appropriate for both night and day wear.

Proganix Volume Root Boost Finish + Body Builder
Full Size 5.1 fl oz | $11.99

So, this full sized gem also came in this month's box. I definitely need assistance in the volumizing category for my hair. I have very straight and fine hair so anything that can help my get a little lift is much appreciated.

Sesha Botanical Hydro Mask
Full Size One Piece | $9

I've not actually used this yet, but I'm sure it'll come in handy soon. Since being pregnant, my face has gone through weird dry spells and now it's in a weird oily phase. Once I feel the dryness coming along again, I'll be eager to try this out.

Nails Inc Matte Top Coat
Full Size .33 fl oz | $10

So I'm pretty familiar with the Nails Inc brand of polish but I only own a few. I was excited to receive a bottle of matte top coat though because I don't own too many. I don't think anyone can have enough matte top coats in their collection.

Glossybox October 2014 - Nails Inc Westminster Bridge Matte Top Coat | Kat Stays Polished

Tarte Cosmetics Power Pigment
Full Size .04 oz | $24

The last item in this month's box is a full-sized Tarte Power Pigment lip crayon. I LOVE this. I tried to take a pic with it on but apparently my camera and lights did not want to cooperate with me. It really flatters my skin tone and it isn't too overpowering of a color. It goes on SO smooth and has a minty scent to it which I love.

Glossybox October 2014 - Tarte Cosmetics: Power Pigment in Flush | Kat Stays Polished

Glossybox October 2014 - Tarte Cosmetics: Power Pigment in Flush | Kat Stays Polished

Total value: $54.99

Can you believe it? Out of the 5 items received in this box, 4 of them were full-sized! That's amazing. Glossybox is available as a monthly subscription and costs just $21/box! This month, the Tarte Power Pigment paid for the box by itself!

In terms of value, this box is definitely worth it. Give it a try!
