Kat Stays Polished | Beauty Blog with a Dash of Life: Sally Hansen Lustre Shine

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine

Monday, June 10, 2013

Hi guys! So, today's post and tomorrow's post will be for some Sally Hansen polishes I received to review....and it was a SURPRISE! That's right! I had no idea I was getting them which makes writing these posts even better!

Below I have for you 3 of their Lustre Shine polishes. If you remember a while back, Sally Hansen came out with a line of 8 iridescent effect, or duochrome, polishes. The three I have for you are Firefly, Gilt, and Scarab.

Sally Hansen Lustre Shine

First up is firefly. I have 2 coats with no topcoat and the duochrome effect really does come alive on the nail. I am always skeptical about duochromes because although they look GORGEOUS in the bottle, they don't always look good on the nail.

Second is Gilt. Gilt also has a great duochrome effect but it's a lot more subtle than Firefly. Again I have 2 coats and no top coat in the picture below.

Last is Scarab. Scarab isn't really a "duochrome" but it has a fantastic metallic look to it. I applied 2 coats with no top coat. The effect really does show only in the bottle but I still love the way it looks on my nails.

As with any "effect" polish, I like to see what it does over black. Sometimes the intended effect come out more over a darker color. I have 1 coat of each Lustre Shine over 2 coats of SH CSM Onyx. I'd say that there isn't too much difference over black. There might be a slight change for Scarab because you can kind of see the green coming out of it.

  3. I'm happy to say yours is the first nail blog I'm following!! Actually found it by searching these polishes, looking for the difference with and without topcoat. I'm. Curious to see if it diminishes the duochrome effect. I did find putting scarab over opi "for audery" pulled the green and blue out amazingly!! Anyway, excited to be a part of your blog :) than you for your experience with these colors, definitely looking forward to more posts!!
