Product Review: Nail Candy Pen

Monday, March 11, 2013

Hey, hey! So today I bring you a review of the Nail Candy Pens. This concept is great and I was really excited to be able to give them a thorough review. Read below to see my thoughts!

Okay, so here are the Nail Candy Pens I received. These are the Live Colorfully duos. They are the perfect pastels for the Spring season.

Each Nail Candy Pen is equipped with a metal point for drawing and a brush for normal polish application. They all look just like the image below.

So here I'e painted each color onto a diffrent nail. The pink is a really nice creamy color. It was opaque in 2 coats, but it was a little bit on the thicker side for me.

The blue was the same way but not as thick.

Yellow took about 2-3 coats to get opaque. It's a very nice pastel yellow that works for all Spring manicures.

Green is the thinnest and as you can see in the picture below, it looks clear like a jelly, but to me, it's much thinner than a normal jelly, almost watery. I used 3 coats to get it to appear like it does in my pic.

Now, onto the nail pen part of the duos. The way to get the polish to come out of the tip is to gently squeeze the polish bottle until the desired amount appears.

I tried several techniques. My favorite of the 4 to use for designs are the pink and the yellow. Those two had flawless tips and the formula for the dots was perfect.

My least favorite was the green. Since the formula is very thin, it just sorta dripped out on its own which made it impossible to get small dots.

I tried to draw lines, but I guess I need more practice. Having to squueze just the right amount of polish out can sometimes be challenging.

Overall, I love this concept. The formula for these has me on the fence and the dripping green definitely has me worried for some of the other colors.

I'll be using these in a few Spring manicures for sure. Thanks, Nail Candy Pen for allowing me to review your Live Colorfully nail pens!
