Valentine's Day with Red Carpet Manicure - Dazzling Gems

Friday, February 14, 2014

Hey guys! Happy Valentine's Day! My hubby and I don't really celebrate VDay. We never really have but I do have some last minute manis for you to get your own VDay celebrations on!

So one of my favorite LED gel polish brands is Red Carpet Manicure. I love their formula and I love that it's an LED polish. They were also one of the first brands I got to ever review on my blog. This time they sent me 2 of their Dazzling Gem polishes. They are quite Valentine's Day appropriate so let me show you what I came up with - literally last minute!

The two polishes sent to me were Lady in Red and Stealing the Spotlight. Lady in Red is a gorgeous glittery red polish and Stealing the Spolight is a glitter, flakie topper! SO BEAUTIFUL!

Each of these designs has french tips. You can can perfectly white tips with RCM White Hot, which is on sale for $6.99 on their website, by the way! I used a dotting tool and Lady in red to create a heart on my ring finger. I then accented the tips of my fingers with little red dots. Then I took Stealing the Spotlight and applied that to my nails above the French tip. After I cured these layers, i topped it off with Brilliance, the RCM top coat.

My 2nd design is even simpler. I created 2 different sized hearts on my ring finger with Lady in Red and added a few dots to the tip on my ring finger. On the other fingers, I just applied Stealing the Spotlight on top. After the cure, I applied Brilliance and was done! I simply LOVE having a gel glitter-flakie topper.

If you're feeling like something a little different, try this Flirty Nail Art step-by-step tutorial from Red Carpet Manicure Nail Tech, Candace Szpeich.

1. First, apply prep and structure. Then cure.

2. Next apply three coats of “White Hot” curing after each coat.

3. Using an RCM dotting and marbling tool, create a “dot” outline in the shape of a heart using “Leading Lady,” and then cure.

4. Using shades such as “Take A Bow,” “Ooo La Liscious,” “Leading Lady,” “Red Carpet Reddy” and “In Style,” fill in the heart with dots of various sizes. Cure after every few hearts to prevent colors from blending.

5. Add a few flakes of silver or gold glitter for depth.

6. Lastly, apply Brilliance and cure.

So, what do you think of my designs and the one from the RCM nail tech? Cute and simple, right? What are you doing for Valentine's Day? Let me know if you also want to see Lady in Red as a full mani by itself!

Be sure to visit Red Carpet Manicure on all their social media sites! You can find RCM polish for $9.99 on their site, at Target, ULTA, Duane Reade, Bed Bath & Beyond, and more!
